Makeover Mondays! Find The Perfect Shade of Red Lipstick

Red lips are a classic look that glam up any night out or belly dance performance. They also are neccesary for dancing on very large stages or when wearing bold colors. But it is important to pick the perfect shade of red for your personality and complexion.

How to Find the Perfect Red Shade

EASY Way

1- Go to the nearest makeup counter of your favorite brand and have the MUA on duty look at your complexion and go throught their shades. Pick your favorite, skip to tutorial on how to apply.

DIY Way

1- Determine your undertones, yellow, neutral or pink. Quick way to tell is to look at the veins on your wrist. Blue veins= pink or neutral, Green veins= yellow Inbetween Blue and Green = Neutral or an indecisive nature ;)

2- Next destermine your darkness, pale, medium, tan, dark etc. This doesn't matter as much but the reds will be brighter the paler you are so you can experiment with darker colors the darker you are.

For pale pink undertones a red with blue or violet undertones is best, pale yellow undertones more of a warm brick red, for netural pale an orange red. For medium or tan yellow undertone a dark and deep warm red is ideal. Medium to tan with neutral tones can wear all shades of red. For dark shade with yellow undertones a medium orange to brick red works and for neutral dark a violet based deep red is ideal. Even doing this yourself you should try on a bunch of shades. Head to a store with mirros and samples to try like Sephora or Ulta.

Applying the Perfect Red Lip

1- Start with mostiurized lips. Gently exfoliate lip with either a lip exfoliator or toothbrush. Again gently! Put some chapstick or balm as a base.

2- Line those lips with a coordinating liner! The beauty of red lips is perfection and this will prevent feathering.

3- Start with a small lip brush lining lips inside already drawn line with lip stick. Fill in center. Bloat and either leave matte or top with gloss in center of lip.
